LAB-T
Laurence Blackwell-Thale is a chartered architect, with experience working across residential, landscape, civic, cultural and exhibition design.
His practice is closely aligned with teaching and research, based at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, where he is a Lecturer on the following programmes:
Unit 13 on the BSc Architecture course (2023-Present), alongside William Victor Camilleri
Studio 2A on the MSci Architecture course (2023-Present), alongside Abi Ashton
Studio 5 on the MLA Landscape Architecture course (2021-Present), alongside Pete Davies
He is a founder of the following networks and awards:
ArchLands - an inclusive network of architectural designers involved with landscape practices.
DesignClub - a design focussed group interested in discussing productive outputs across architecture and landscape.
The Keith Blackwell Memorial Award for Innovative Design - recognises and supports a graduating 6th form student working across the spectrum of art and design who demonstrates a deliberate and passionate interest in pushing boundaries and challenging conventions in their creative work.
Laurence holds a BSc and MArch Architecture from the Bartlett, UCL and gained his part 3 from Westminster University. He was project architect at KnoxBhavan Architects delivering a range of complex residential schemes on site during COVID, before working on exhibition designs for large cultural institutions at Nissen Richards.
As well as teaching and conducting design work with LAB-T, he is currently a PhD candidate in Architectural Design at the Bartlett, UCL.
